Camp Activities

Arts & Crafts

Personalized art activities create unique mementos from your time at camp! Parents and kids have the opportunity to get equally creative and messy. Tie-dye is a mainstay with bags, towels, hats and shirts alternating from year to year and our staff always comes up with a new and creative project that will definitely leave a smile on every face.

Friends of the Boundary Waters

Friends of the Boundary Waters proved to be so popular last year we just had to have them back! After a lesson in water safety, kids, parents, interpreters along with their guides were out on the water. In addition, we got to learn about building a campfire and identifying animal skulls and footprints.

Lawn Games

Nothing brings people together like cooperation and friendly competition. Whether overcoming obstacles as a team or being the last person standing in the final round, there’s plenty of laughter and smack talk to go around. And the day usually rounds out with the kids’ favorite - and the parents’ dreaded - Capture the Flag.

ASL Classes for Kids and Adults

It’s normal for any parent to struggle communicating with their children, with or without the aid of hearing devices, so we provide scheduled ASL classes led by deaf mentors for kids and teens and adults. Everyone on our staff is open and friendly when it comes to educating people about American Sign Language and even details about deaf culture.

There is no requirement for you to understand ASL. Our interpreters are present to help facilitate conversations with people who are deaf and hard of hearing when needed.

Kids love learning new signs, whether about their favorite animal or to communicate details about their family.

And the adults and teens appreciate being able to sit down with a deaf mentor to discuss intricacies of ASL. There are opportunities for both!

BINGO!

BINGO! A popular indoor activity even if it’s not raining. Kids and adults enjoy the competition and selecting prizes from our generous donors. And let’s face it, after all that running around, sometimes it’s nice to just sit and focus on one thing.

S’MORES!

What better way to close out the day than with the time honored tradition of roasting marshmallows over an open fire? Add some chocolate and graham crackers and you have everyone’s favorite camp snack. Enhance the flavor with a provided peanut-butter cup! Vegan marshmallows are also available for dietary and allergen restrictions.
